Bob Burton and Ray Stone? What names from my 6th form days, although I was somewhat younger than both of them being a 1961-67 boy . ( Sorry, Guys.) It was good to meet up with Ray at the Club after Tony's funeral and to remind him that he recommended me to be School Captain. In turn I recommended Kevin Todd when I left. The beginning of the end?

Ref to Colin Milne's note of 20 Oct, I was in the same year as his brother Ian ( 1957 -64), and in fact Ian and I became bridge partners. I seem to recall that both were very interested in sailing.

Some of you may (or may not) remember that I used to take photos at various times and process and print them myself. Well, I still have 90 sets of negatives and have extracted some (80) Roan, Old Roan Dramatic Society and Lake District camping photos from the first 20 sets. They are available on line at http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/2296974175

Please feel free to comment on them and pass on the address to anyone that may be interested.

!949-1954. I was interested to see the photo of George Witten in 1991. He was my favourite teacher & enthused me for English Lit. even 'tho I became a scientist. He must have been in his 80s at least in 1991. Anyone know any more after that?

Good morning

I didn't go to Roan but I did play for a football team run by Mickey Burt who did go the school, as did other members such as Keith Hedges, Bobby Gowlett and Roger Scanlan.

However, as is my want I am still researching all aspects of Millwall FC and I recently came across a small morsel of interest with a Roan connection. In early 1946 a former Roan master named E. Durling was co-opted onto the board of directors of Millwall, he was also the son-in-law of John Beveridge who was Vice- Chairman of MFC at the time.

Can any former Roan pupil's remember him? If so, I would be pleased to hear from them. Any photos or biographical details of Mr D. would be a bonus.

Many thanks
Dave Sullivan

It's good to see the names Colin Milne and Dave Clifton, both were my classmates at Roan. Especially comforting at this time when we are remembering the life of our fellow classmate, Tony Slaney.

I remember you both very well.
I'm now retired, like most of us from '65 and living in France.

Just heard the news about our ex president and longtime secretary: Absolutely devastated as he was a lot younger than many but put more into the Old Roan Club than most. So sad.
