incredible to see those names from the past! Would love to make contact with old friends and colleagues. I have been roaming the world for the past forty years and now find myself in Hong Kong! Was at Roan in the early 60's if anyone remembers me....the tall, gangly guy into basketball

Retired to West Ireland after 30yrs service in The Met. Married, one stepson and now caring for 2 horses, a donkey + dog & cat. Irregular visitor to UK and CAFC & certainly miss real ale and the Old Boys Club.. No evidence of an Association magazine this year or has the overseas list been lost?

Hello there I'm looking for any of the last Roan Girls who attended from 1979-1984 at Devonshire Drive before it finally closed its doors. We are trying to get a reunion together as this is our 30th anniversary since the school closed.

Attended Roan 1976-1982.
Cant quite believe the association is still going strong... Such an achievment.
I was sorry to read about Alfie and now Tony Slaney, long may they be remembered.

Derek Carter (45-52)
Visiting N. Carolina at the moment, from my home on the shores of Georgian Bay, Ontario. Just made a phone connection with Ian L. Smith (46-53?) in Johnsonville, SC - or should I say 'his wife'. Ian wrote his history under 'Whatever Happened to...' a few issues back of the Magazine and I was hoping to visit him while here. Unfortunately he is not in good health & suffers from a combination of Parkinsons & Alzheimers disease. His wife also has health problems so a visit is out. Too bad.
Another week or so here in mild but, to date, dreary weather & then back to the remnants of a brutal winter in Canada. This was the first winter in the past twenty that lakes Superior, Huron, & Ontario have frozen over completely, while Michigan & Erie had little ice coverage..Very strange!

I attended the Roan 1959 - 1964 if anybody remembers me. I remember John Marks as he was in my class. I would be interested to hear from anyone who remembers. Mr Garstang was the head and Mr Berry the assistant head. John Marks was a good friend who I played football with.

OLD ROAN ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT’S T30 FOOTBALL
Sunday 16th March - Presidents XI vs. Super Vets
John Roan School Playing Fields
Play starts 10:30 a.m. and followed by drinks/buffet from 12:30 p.m.
Following the success of the T20 cricket in the summer and to mark the end of a Presidential year, Andy Daniels invites you to come down to the field to enjoy a friendly fixture. The two sides will feature the oldest and greatest (but mainly oldest) footballers associated with the Old Roan F.C.
T30?? Its 30 years since my first ORFC game!

Listened to Arthur Smith last night on BBC radio 4; was anyone else as embarassed as I was with his rude, poor and lamentably awful 59 minutes worth? Arthur : get a grip and stop trying so hard,. You cannot sing and your foul language is not funny.
